Chivas and Canana present “Drifting”, a short film inspired and created by friends
Canana directors Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna direct a two-part short film inspired by friendship.
Chivas has partnered with Canana – the arthouse Mexican production company, founded by life-long friends Gael García Bernal, Diego Luna and Pablo Cruz, and led by Julián Levin – to produce a two-part short film following the adventures of three friends. The first instalment of the story, directed by Diego Luna, has been followed a few weeks after by the conclusion directed by Gael García Bernal.
Filmed in Tulum, Mexico, Drifting shows the three friends’ reunion and the way they evolved, through a contemporary and timeless vision of friendship. Speaking about the project, Diego Luna commented, “This project really interested me because the story involves an intervention, a moment of crossing a line to make your friend wake up. I think friends are the only ones that constantly cross that line and because you are friends you let them and that’s the beauty of it because sometimes they know what is best!”
Created by brothers James and John Chivas, Chivas Scotch Whisky stands by the same values of brotherhood and friendship as those that inspired Drifting.
