Silent movie The Artist, winner of the French César Award, gained four trophies at the Independent Spirit Awards 2012 in Santa Monica last February, shortly before being crowned at the Oscars. At this competition for independent films, The Artist won the awards for Best Film, Best Director for Michel Hazavanicius, Best Actor for Jean Dujardin and Best Cinematography. The film crew celebrated their success with Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque during a brief respite after their arrival in Los Angeles.
