Building partnerships

Pernod Ricard is a member or co-founder of national and international associations dedicated to promoting socially-responsible alcohol consumption all around the world. This commitment complements the initiatives implemented locally by Pernod Ricard’s subsidiaries.

These organisations assume several roles:

  • articulate and promote reasonable consumption habits,
  • encourage best practices among their members,
  • communicate and collaborate with public authorities and associations for parents, students and doctors, etc.

HELPING THE PUBLIC UNDERSTAND THE ROLE OF ALCOHOL IN SOCIETY

Pernod Ricard is a partner of the “Alcohol and Health” forum, an initiative launched by the European Commission in 2006 to reduce the damage to public health caused by excessive alcohol consumption. This forum brings together representatives from the European Commission, member states, non-governmental organisations and the industry. The aim is to establish shared commitments that are concrete and quantifiable.

Pernod Ricard supports the International Centre for Alcohol Policies (ICAP), an international think-tank. The Group has contributed to improving the public's understanding of the role of alcohol in society and reducing alcohol abuse throughout the world.

WARNING AND INFORMING THE PUBLIC OF THE RISKS OF ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION

The Group is an active member of DrinkWise in Australia. This organisation works with local authorities to combat binge drinking.

Since 2006, Pernod Ricard has been involved with the Drinkaware Trust in the United Kingdom. This organisation leads prevention and education campaigns at points of sale. The address of its informative website, www.drinkaware.co.uk, is printed on all bottles distributed by member companies.

In Poland, the Polish Vodka Association was founded in 2007 by leading industry players, including the Pernod Ricard subsidiary Wyborowa. This association has implemented a vast prevention and information campaign on the risks of practicing water sports under the influence of alcohol.
