Another holiday gift: Wise Drinking rolls out new features12/12/2014
During the holiday season, get the Wise Drinking reflex with Pernod Ricard before getting behind the wheel.
Launched in May 2014, our Wise Drinking mobile app enables consumers to monitor their alcohol intake via their smartphones. Six months later, new features have been added in time for the holiday season, including a “responsible quiz.” It enables users to test their knowledge of responsible drinking through questions such as:
- “How much is one unit of alcohol?”
- “How is wine produced?”
- “What advice is given to pregnant women regarding alcohol?”
- “Who was the Greek god of wine?”
Answering these questions correctly is your first step to learning how to drink responsibly. It also makes for a fun party game!
Think your holiday consumption has gone past the point of driving yourself home safely? Simply use Wise Drinking’s Drinks Diary and Alcohol Calculator features to find out. Then, call a taxi directly from the app: a network connection is not necessary!
Wise Drinking is available worldwide and is a part of Pernod Ricard and its subsidiaries’ desire to promote responsible drinking locally. In 2012, the Group, alongside the International Alliance for Responsible Drinking (ICAP), helped develop and implement five commitments to help the beer, wine and spirits industry combat alcohol abuse. These commitments include:
- Reducing underage drinking and drunk driving
- Strengthening marketing codes of practice
- Providing consumer information
- Developing responsible product innovations
- Enlisting retailers’ support in reducing alcohol abuse
In an example of our local initiatives, Pernod Ricard joined forces with MyTaxi in Spain to offer discount coupons to customers of Absolut, Beefeater, Chivas, Havana Club and many of our other products in partner bars. Pernod Ricard also created Responsible Party, a program in partnership with the Erasmus Student Network aimed at raising responsible drinking awareness. In four years, more than 175,000 Erasmus students in 28 European countries have been reached and informed during these
