Beefeater, the world’s best-selling Premium gin, has announced the launch of Beefeater Burrough’s Reserve – a hand-crafted, ultra-Premium gin unlike any other: it is rested in Jean de Lillet oak barrels before bottling.

Beefeater redefines the enjoyment of gin with the launch of Burrough’s Reserve. Distilled in a small historic copper still from the 19th century, the spirit is then uniquely rested in Jean de Lillet oak barrels. A very fine aperitif, Jean de Lillet is only created in exceptional vintage years, making its barrels the optimum resting place for an ultra-Premium gin.

Produced following the original Beefeater recipe, refined by the founder of Beefeater James Burrough in the 1860s, Burrough’s Reserve is distilled by hand using James Burrough’s original copper “Still Number 12”. With a capacity of only 268L, Still Number 12 produces such small batches that each bottle of Burrough’s Reserve displays its batch and bottle number on the label.

As one of the leading experts in gin with over 45 years’ experience, Master Distiller Desmond Payne explains, “I wanted to create something truly unique that celebrated the distilling heritage of Beefeater. I expect Burrough’s Reserve to appeal to free thinking individuals who enjoy challenging convention and exploring new sensory experiences with gin.”

Launching in Spain this June, Burrough’s Reserve will continue to roll out into key global markets, including the UK – also from June – and the US from October 2013. Exclusively available from select bars and drinks boutiques, it will be presented in a distinctive embossed glass bottle.
