Pernod Ricard wholly acquires luxury African gin brand Inverroche

Press Release 11/02/2025

11 February 2025 – Johannesburg. Pernod Ricard has wholly acquired luxury African gin brand Inverroche. The sale of the remaining Inverroche shares not owned by the Group was concluded on 6 February 2025. Inverroche is now Pernod Ricard’s first wholly owned African spirit brand.

Sola Oke, Managing Director of Pernod Ricard Africa says “Africa is a market with great potential for Pernod Ricard. Our investment in Inverroche demonstrates the continued commitment of our group to Africa, and our belief in the continent’s potential as a significant white space opportunity in the world for the Premium+ Spirits & Champagne segment. This is an important milestone in realising our ambition to make Inverroche Africa’s First Global Luxury Spirit Brand.”

Lorna Scott, Inverroche’s Founder, is expected to continue working  with the brand, ensuring her passion and intimate knowledge of Inverroche will be kept within the Pernod Ricard family. A resident of Stilbaai, where Inverroche was founded, Scott pioneered the use of the area’s indigenous fynbos to infuse traditional gin botanicals more than 12 years ago. Inverroche is now available in 25 markets around the world, including most recently the United States.

Inverroche has had notable success when it comes to job creation and sustainability initiatives. The brand is one of the largest employers in the Stilbaai and Riversdale area. Seventy percent of Inverroche’s employees are female, many of whom head up single parent households.  Over the December peak period, Inverroche creates an additional 30 temporary jobs to manage the increased visitor numbers who visit the Inverroche Brand Home in Stilbaai – the first global brand home in Africa. The brand also invests significantly in the local community, by supporting local suppliers and business wherever possible.
