Campo Viejo, the UK’s number one Spanish wine[1], has released its Winemakers’ Blend in a new bag-in-box (BIB) format. This shareable format fulfils Campo Viejo’s goal to bring people together by providing its consumers with a compact and easy to carry box, filled with the same wine that is in the bottle.
Campo Viejo prides itself on its sustainable winemaking, as the first winery in Spain certified for climate protection and 100% renewable electricity. The new BIB further supports these ambitions with the new format proven to have reduced carbon footprint during transportation due to its lightweight format, when compared to glass bottles with the equivalent volume. BIB has grown +240% in the last two years[2] and the 1.5L format holds two bottles worth of wine, with consumers not having to worry about their wine spoiling as the bag itself promises 30 days of freshness, making it the perfect solution for occasions such as dinner parties, BBQs and Picnics.
Lucy Bearman, Wine and Champagne Portfolio Director for Pernod Ricard UK, comments: “As the first bag-in-box in our wine portfolio, it felt right to launch with our lead brand and the UK’s favourite Spanish wine. What’s not to like, same quality wine that lasts longer than in the bottle, better for the environment and the inner bag can be recycled as a camping or festival pillow by blowing it up once empty! As the favourite format in the Nordic market, with over 50% of the wine category sold as BIB, we have some convincing to do on our home turf and our role as a leading wine brand in the market is to drive awareness of how this format ticks all the right boxes. Working collaboratively with retailers, we need to ensure the category is given more focus in store and that we are producing marketing collateral to land the message clearly and encourage shoppers to do things the scandi-way!”.
The new Campo Viejo Winemakers’ Blend bag-in-box reflects the colour and vibrant Campo Viejo style synonymous with its distinctive wine bottles. The iconic bottle label features on the front and back of the box, containing the timeless Campo Viejo branding and three winemakers’ signatures. This is supported by the message of para compartir…” for sharing”. The other facings of the box include the story of the Winemakers’ Blend, provide engaging tasting notes, and include instructions for recycling and reuse.
Campo Viejo Winemakers’ Blend Bag-in-Box is available now in Sainsbury’s and online via Amazon with an RRP of £15.
