Malibu partners with DJ Dillon Francis to launch #thecoconutchallenge and remix an internet sensation

The Coconut Nut Malibu Remix is set to become a summer anthem and spark a global dance craze

The UK’s number one coconut rum brand[1] is bringing a little bit of sunshine this summer through a partnership with platinum-selling DJ and producer Dillon Francis, and personalities including Made In Chelsea’s Georgia Toffolo, singer and radio presenter Fleur East and creative director Ashley Banjo, for the launch of #TheCoconutChallenge. The new campaign will see a community of over 30 Malibu ambassadors from seven different countries, get its target audience of ‘Young Fun Starters’ (or Gen Z) moving to the beat of The Coconut Nut Malibu Remix, as they perform dance moves created by renowned choreographer Matt Steffanina.

The campaign kicks off today and will see Malibu and Dillon Francis drop a remix of The Coconut Nut song, which first became an internet sensation 10 years ago, turning it into an unforgettable summer anthem and sparking a global dance craze. The brand is also inviting consumers to bust a move to The Coconut Nut Malibu Remix and tag their posts with @MaliburumUK and #TheCoconutChallenge to be in with a chance of being featured in Dillon Francis’ crowdsourced music video, scheduled to premiere later this summer.

The campaign will run throughout August and September across social media and will be supported by a media partnership with Mixmag, influencer amplification and PR.
