Fifteen rare single malts from sought-after distilleries launch in the UK following a one year exclusive in Global Travel Retail
Pernod Ricard UK has launched its largest single malt collection to date, varying in age from 18-30 years old and composed of rare whiskies heralding from four seldom-seen, yet highly sought-after Speyside, Scotland distilleries. The Secret Speyside Collection is made up of three, individually numbered rare single malts from each of the Glen Keith, Longmorn and Braes of Glenlivet distilleries, together with three peated and three unpeated expressions from Caperdonich, which distilled its final single malt in 2002.
The carefully curated Secret Speyside Collection consists of 15 rare single malts and ranges in price from £88-875 per bottle, each with its own rich and unique history for discerning Scotch fans to discover. The range includes the final six whiskies from Caperdonich Distillery, which was taken down brick by brick in 2011, three of which are peated and include an 18yo, 21yo and 25yo, while three are unpeated, including a 21yo, 25yo and 30yo. Longmorn Distillery has also produced three soft, creamy toffee flavour whiskies for the collection, including an 18yo, 23yo and 25yo.
Glen Keith Distillery, which was the first built on Speyside, has contributed three intensely smooth whiskies for the collection which are the first age statements released this century from the distillery – a 21yo, 25yo and 28yo. Finally, Braes of Glenlivet has also produced three age statements: a 25yo, 27yo and 30yo, made using water from the two-mile deep Preenie Well, resulting in a smooth whisky packed with tropical fruit notes.
Laura Stephen, Pernod Ricard UK Brand Director, comments: “The initial response to the Secret Speyside Collection has been overwhelmingly positive, so we’re excited to bring the secrets of our largest ever single malt collection to the UK. With centuries of rich whisky heritage, Speyside is the treasure chest of Scotch and the collection has been hand-selected to uncover some of the hidden malts at the heart of the iconic region. eCommerce has seen accelerated growth over the lockdown period and the Single Malt Whisky category has experienced +166% volume growth over the last 12 weeks[1]. With research showing that consumers are increasingly looking to indulge and switch off at home, the Secret Speyside Collection is perfectly primed to tap into this expanding trend.”
The UK launch is being supported by digital display, eCRM, PR and a series of masterclasses to drive desirability and credibility to the range. The Secret Speyside Collection is available through The Whisky Exchange, Master of Malt and other prestige retailers.
