Fondation d'Entreprise Martell - Opening Ceremony of the Pavillon Martell de SelgasCano

Article 11/07/2017

On 28 June 2017, the Fondation d'Entreprise Martell inaugurated an in situ commission, an original protean architectural marvel designed by Spanish architects SelgasCano which will completely cover the large paved courtyard in front of the Foundation until autumn 2018.

It is the Fondation d'Entreprise Martell's second in situ installation in Cognac, and the first project undertaken in France by the Spanish architects.

As the first project in France by Jose' Selgas and Lucía Cano, this exterior pavilion is made up of two modules made from high-tech materials that will host specific activities hinting at the Foundation's future schedule of events. Starting in summer 2017, visitors will be able to enjoy creation and performance-based experiences with guest creators, including Atelier W110 and the brand 71bis, and artistic partners such as Abbaye aux Dames.

True to their aesthetic of transparency and openness to the outside world, SelgasCano constructed the pavilion from a metal framework covered by a translucent material developed by the French company Onduline. Strong and watertight, the material is permeated by a soft, changing light which creates intriguing iridescent effects.
