The "Elliott Erwitt Havana Club 7 Fellowship" was launched
Spearheading the new global passion point of Havana 7, the Elliott Erwitt Havana Club 7 Fellowship sees the legendary Magnum photographer Elliott Erwitt returning to Cuba after 51 years. The objective: to start a photography legacy of Cuba that will live on for years to come. The core idea is to sell 7 selected images and all proceeds will fund a new photographer to go to Cuba, who in turn will sell photos to fund the next.
The "Elliott Erwitt Havana Club 7 Fellowship" was launched at the core of the photographic tribe at the Unseen festival in Amsterdam in September by the grand old man himself. The reception from the photographic community, 10.000 photography fans and the world press was overwhelming with interviews and PR reaching more than +55 million consumers guiding them to www.havana-fellowship.com hosting Elliott's work.
We are thrilled to be collaborating on this project with Elliott as it aligns perfectly with our cultural ethos. '
Jens Jakobsen, Marketing Manager of Havana Club 7
Jens Jakobsen, Marketing Manager of Havana Club 7 says : "For us to be able to document the land that gave birth to our rum with a living legend and also enable others to do so in the future is just wonderful. The passing on of knowledge from the rum masters to the next generation is central to our rum culture and its production, much like a master photographer passing his craft onto his apprentice, ensuring that the craft and legacy lives on."
Following the launch in Amsterdam, the exhibition travelled back to Cuba. On 19 November, as part of an international photo festival in Havana, the works of Elliott Erwitt, spanning on half a century, were shared with the Cuban photographic community at the Havana Cultura Gallery. The exhibition will be on until end of January.
